So, with the latest release of the Haali Splitter should we use it instead of the Gabest Splitter for M2TS and MKV?

Haali 1.9.355.21 does not support HD audio tracks in M2TS yet. MPC Mpeg Source (Gabest) is the only choice for HD audio tracks.

This may sound like a stupid question, but can I use Haali for MKV and Gabest for M2TS at the same time?

Yes. Merge the following keys into the registry.
Windows 32-bit
Windows 64-bit
The above entries apply to 64-bit players. For 32-bit players, use:
{1365BE7A-C86A-473C-9A41-C0A6E82C9FA3} is CLSID of MPC - Mpeg Source (Gabest). {55DA30FC-F16B-49fc-BAA5-AE59FC65F82D} is CLSID of Haali Media Splitter.

Go here http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpc-hc/files/ and download the standalone filters for x86 or x64 depending on your setup. Then once you get them on your machine, find the file called mpegsplitter.ax and register it using regsvr32.exe from the command line. Lastly do as renethx said and assign Gabest mpegsplitter.ax to m2ts.

I realize this thread is old, but I think its still relevant.
I just upgraded CoreAVC 2.0 to CoreAVC 2.5 (which comes packaged with Haali Splitter).
It seems like the latest Haali splitter that comes with the brand new CoreAVC 2.5 still has the same issues I was seeing before for m2ts files (m2ts files which contain hd-audio still have issues stuttering, causing unstable behavior, not playing at all, etc). It's perfect for mkv.. just not m2ts.
I just downloaded the latest MpegSplitter.ax from (standalone_filters-1.5.2.2994_x86_msvc2010.7z) and replace the one I had; and reapplied the .reg file above.
Can someone please confirm that there are these issues still exist with Haali splitter? I even went to the extent to joining the Matroska mail list and requested a fix, but my request completely got ignored.

For me, bitstreaming DTS-HD tracks are choppy using Haali's. Works perfectly under Gabest.

BTW, does the latest version of gabest MpegSplitter.ax allow dts-ma to be played back/decoded in an mkv container? If so, I'm guessing all I have to do is point the mkv extension to the gabest filter same way I did for m2ts i the above registry mod. If Gabest can't do it either, I rather still use haali for mkvs.

I have both LAV Splitter and Arcsoft audio decoder HD installed and associated with mkv, mpls, ts, m2ts.
It looks like the system will now use the LAV Splitter, but has a problem with using the arcsoft filter directly with the m2ts. I get an error when connecting it directly. I HAVE to use ac3filter as an intermediary filter.. even then, the arcsoft audio filter wont connect to any audio renders. Am I missing something? I haven't rebooted though since installing LAV splitter and arcsoft. Maybe that's the reason?

TrueHD bitstreaming stopped working when I replaced Haali splitter with LAVsplitter x64. TrueHD now decodes to PCM thru FFDshow instead of set bitstream (???)
Any ideas?

Which player are you using with what audio device? LAV Splitter x32 (v0.19) + ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD (TMT3 185) inside MPC HomeCinema works just fine for both MKV and M2TS to decode TrueHD and DTS-HD in my system.

TrueHD/DTS-HD bitstreaming works fine with LAV Splitter x64 (0.19) + ffdshow Audio Decoder x64 inside MPC HomeCinema x64 for MKV/M2TS (as well as x32) in my Windows 7 x64 system. Have you checked ffdshow audio decoder configuration?

Any ideas?

What if you uncheck DCA (DTS Coherent Acoustics) on the formats tab in LAV Audio Decoder config? I think LAV will by default decode rather than bitstream?

Renethx: See above pic. I want to first get it working using pure directshow; with the filtergraph built automatically by the system. I just need pure software 5.1 decode via an analog 5.1 audio card (Creative Labs Xi-Fi). I dont have any issues using software solutions using their own builtin filters and manipulation of filtergraphs. But if you really want to know, I use SageTV primarily and WMP for Vista. I disabled SageTV from trying to use it's own native playback components; and use directshow instead; as I have problems playing back several bluray/mkv files with HD audio.
I had much better success using Haali for MKV and Gabest for m2ts than sageTV's own system. I wanted to further improve media playback flexibility with the best splitter/HD audio decoder combination (I dont want to use FFdshow).

Isn't he talking about TrueHD? In case he uses LAV Audio Decoder, just untick 'truehd' in the Formats tab of LAV Audio Decoder and ffdshow Audio Decoder will be loaded for TrueHD and ffdshow will decode or bitstream it according to the configuration (LAV Audio Decoder always decodes TrueHD).

Yes..Just TrueHD bitstream problem..DTS-MA (and AC3) bitstreams perfectly.
If I uninstall LAVsplitter x64 (v0.19) and install latest Haali, TrueHD bitstream works again.
I am using FFDshow x64 v3794 and Win7 Media Center x64 to play MKV containers. I want to use LAVsplitter because it is the only splitter that properly splits LPCM audio tracks in MKV containers.
FFDshow is decoding TrueHD to PCM instead of bitstreaming the track even though I have it ticked to bitstream..very odd.

TrueHD bitstreams when using MPC-HC + FFDshow but does not bitstream (decodes to PCM) when using Win7MC + FFDshow..All x64.
I kid you not.

Maybe I'm using the wrong standalone Arcsoft audio decoder package? It looks like there are a couple of packages out. There's a very simple one with checkactivate.dll, ASAudioHD+.ax, and ASAudioHD.ax (which shows up in graphedit as a valid filter; it just wont connect to anything). I had this same problem the last time I tried.
Then, there's another one which has an executable as an installer (which I dont really trust); but looks much newer: Which copies these files under windowssystem32:
ASAudioHD.ax
checkactivate.dll
DtsDec.dll
dtsdecoderdll.dll
MagCore.dll
MagPCMac.dll
MagUIEngine.dll
MagUIImage.dll
MagUIInter.dll
All I want to do is see is a working archsoft audio HD filter which can connect to any other filters by the system. I installed the one I dont trust on a test machine with no media files. So, all I have is graphedit. Bottom line, I dont want to have to install the entire archsoft software just to get an HD audio filter.. and dont want to use ffdshow. The fewer files to deal with, the better.
Thanks in advance!

If you have MPC-HC installed, add it as a external filter then double click it to see the config options. Click the Formats tab and uncheck TrueHD.
There's probably an easier way to bring this up, but someone else will have to reply with that.

SageTV .. That's why I asked the player you use. SageTV supports ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD just fine without LAV Splitter.
Configuration
M2TS with SageTV MpegDeMux + ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD
I appended ffdshow Audio Decoder to see what filters are used (by selecting Uncompressed: all supported in Codecs tab).
M2TS with LAV Splitter + ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD
Can you do this? (Perhaps no.)
MKV with SageTV Stream Demuxer + ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD
MKV with LAV Splitter + ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD

Still not bitstreaming TrueHD.
Unchecking TrueHD in Lav Audio still results in FFDshow decoding the TrueHD track to PCM.
I did not even install the lavaudio.ax initially.
I cant imagine what LAVsplitter is doing to make FFDshow decode the TrueHD track..TrueLY wierd.
